The phrase, "It's not what you know, it's WHO you know," took on new meaning this week. Captain Handsome and I arrived in Oklahoma last week where we immediately registered with the housing office for on post housing. In the meantime, we settled into a hotel and tried to figure out what to do between now and the anticipated availability date of housing--a four to six week wait. I won't bore you will all the options, but suffice it to say they all had up and down sides, and all cost money.
Well...God had other plans. We went to church on Sunday. The pastor and his wife are friends of friends. They were leaving Monday morning for several weeks and, after knowing us for a grand total of fifteen minutes, offered to let us stay in their home while they were gone. We are now
enjoying their beautiful, air-conditioned home complete with a private back yard, grill, and impressive kitchen.
God had another reason for us being here. Monday morning, the pastor called to say he forgot to pack his passport. Not good when he was heading out on a mission trip. We were able to find it for him and overnight it just in time for him to fly out of the country.
Amazing!
On top of that, on the trip here, a couple picked up our hotel bill. We've never had that happen either. The south might be hot, but the hospitality is all it's cracked up to be.
I also signed up for Novel Track through ACFW. Hopefully having to report my word count every night will help me meet my goal of having this novel done by September.
Until next time,
Becca
I'm so glad to hear that you're having a positive experience in Oklahoma. Take care. Miss you!
