More to Love with Sugar Rush and Here for You

I'm over at Stampin' Buds again today with my last post for Sous Chef Saturday.  I once again combined the Sugar Rush Cardmaking Bundle with the Here for You Workshop Your Way.  I hope you'll head over to see both cards and instructions for how I made them.

Until next time,

More to (Donut) Love

I was traveling all day yesterday so I didn't have time to put up a link to my latest post over at Stampin' Buds.  Here's a sneak peek...

Catching Up!

I'm on the road for the next few weeks, but I'm keeping up with my design duties for Stampin' Buds...I just forgot to include a link to my latest two posts.

First was the "Donut Love" post with three cards featuring the new CTMH Sugar Rush products. (Click through to see the other two cards.)

Then there was the one featuring the new "Here for You WYW" which I LOVE! Here's my favorite. (Again, click through to see the other two cards.)

This is one of my all-time favorite cards. It's patterned after one by the lovely and talented Debby Hughes (link to her card provided in the post over on Stampin' Buds.) I'll be back in Alaska come February. For now I'm glad to be away from unending snow and -40 degree temperatures. It's also good to get my writing brain back in gear by visiting other author friends who are helping me start work on upcoming deadlines. Only three this year...but a move from Alaska to South Carolina smack dab in the middle of them. That will be fun.

Off to writing work I go!

Until next time,
Becca

New Year Sparkle Blog Hop

To ring in the New Year, Blog Hops with Heart decided on the theme of "Sparkle."  Here's my card using a brand new stamp set that's part of the Here for You Workshop Your Way featured in the new Seasonal Expressions catalog from CTMH.

I started by cutting a card base plus a top panel.  The top panel is 5.5 x 4.  I laid down a strip of Gold Shimmer Trim along the side of the card base then set it aside.  I stamped the flowers in Cranberry and Black, the leaves in Topiary (small) and Fern (larger), and the background greens in Flaxen (solid) and Topiary (outline). All but the background greens were done on White Daisy cardstock then trimmed out with scissors.  I arranged the flowers and leaves on my top panel to figure out the layout, snapped a picture with my phone to help me remember the placement later, then stamped the background greens to fill in blank spots. To add extra interest, I mounted a couple flowers with foam tape and glued the small leaf that hangs over the right edge underneath the top panel.  Before mounting the top panel to the card base with foam tape, I stamped the sentiment in Black.

I both love and hate this card.  The actual card...LOVE it.  I will use this over and over again for everything from wedding to sympathy.  I hate the card because it's going to my sister-in-law who was just told her cancer has returned...and it doesn't look good.  The Here for You Workshop Your Way has the "Always know..." for the front sentiment and the option of "I'm Here for You" or "You're not Alone" for the inside of the card.  I'll use both during the coming year as a tangible way to encourage her as she battles.

Like always, this month's hop is a circle.  You should have come from Amie's blog, and now you are off to Stephanie's blog.  Keep hopping until you get back to where you started to see all the fabulous projects our talented crew has for you.

Until next time,
Becca

Birthday Bling

My sister-in-law is turning 50 soon.  I decided to get a head start on her card since I'm leaving for a long trip at the end of the week.  I also decided to use a few older paper colors from CTMH because I really need to use some of them up...and then I only used scraps. Still, I think I'll tag Karen Day because we have this competition going to use up old paper.  This puts me ahead for the entire year!

I used Cricut Design Space to weld together a cake stand and cake from the Artistry cartridge.  I then created a overlay by welding that image with a frame I made from the basic shapes included in DS. I added a bow from the Artbooking cartridge.  If you have DS, here's the link to the cutting file.

I pieced in Sunkiss Yellow, Key Lime, and Cherub Pink, then glued the whole overlay to a piece of plastic. Next came foam tape along all four sides to create a barrier for the sequins. To make sure I got my overlay lined up evenly with the card base, I peeled the backing off (all but the top piece) and stuck it down.  I then poured sequins through the top opening.  Fitting the sequins inside was...interesting.  Alaska gets lots of static, so the sequins stuck to my hand, the paper, and the plastic.  But it got in there.

The sentiment is from a retired set, Kaleidoscope Workshop on the Go.  I stamped it in Cherub Pink ink, trimmed it out with scissors, and glued it down.

I took the inspiration for this card from this post.  Such a fun, sparkly card...perfect for my fun, sparkly sister-in-law!

Until next time,
Becca
