Summer Tree

It's always fun when you can sit down to make a card just because.  I decided to combine two challenges: Freshly Made Sketches and Color My Heart.

I kept the sketch about as straigtforward as it comes, as you can see.

I did add a neutral color to the Color My Heart challenge.  The colors this week are Sky, Topiary, and Sweet Leaf.  I added Saddle for the tree trunk and then a darker brown button.

The stamps are from CTMH (Cityscape). The trunk is one stamp, the leaves are another.  I started by stamping the Topiary leaves then inked up in Sweet Leaf and rotated slightly left then inked again and rotated slightly right.

The Sky cardstock was run through an embossing folder by The Paper Studio, and I used a white Gelly Roll pen by Sakura for the hand-drawn border.

The hardest part of this whole card was threading that teeny, tiny button with teeny, tiny thread.

Actually, the reason I had some extra time today is because I wasn't feeling great.  Headache and a low-grade fever.  Day two of this stuff, so I'm better than yesterday.  Hope it's gone by tomorrow so I can enjoy this gorgeous weather.

Until next time,
Becca

  1. Love this card! Hope you are feeling better and the weather hangs in there for you. We had snow and rain here and the temp has fallen about 45 degrees since yesterday. Ah, what a difference one day can make!

  2. I hope you feel better tomorrow, too! Simply gorgeous--one of my favorite things to say to you! Love that stitching touch. Posting mine up tomorrow! I had a heck of time threading myself, lol. :)

  3. How long did it take you to create this deceptively simple card, Becca? Sometimes the "easiest" take the longest! I love the detail and the "white" space. I'm saving this to remind me that sometimes less really is more!

  4. I love this CAS card! Love the pop of color on the kraft card base. So simple, yet so many great details. Thanks for sharing with us at Freshly Made Sketches!

  5. I am guessing it took thirty minutes...would have been about ten minutes less without that tiny button. :)
