hey there

This week over at Color My Heart we are working with Creme Brulee, Sorbet, and Juniper.  My card this week is an example of the 60-30-10 color rule (aka "gallon, quart, pint").

Supplies(italics = CTMH product):
  • CardstockCreme BruleeSorbet, and Juniper
  • Ink: Black pigment
  • StampsBalloon Talk (April Special);
  • Accessories: black sequins adhered with Liquid Glass
The general idea behind this color principle is to choose one color to take up 60% of the design, one to take up 30%, and one splash of color at 10%.  It doesn't mean the color takes up that much space on the whole card, necessarily, just that much space in the part that has color.

And that's it. The quick and dirty version of how much of each color to use on a project.

I do need to give credit to Sylvia from Sylvias Stamping Place for this card idea.  You can see her project here.

Off to a women's retreat this weekend.  Woot, woot!

Until next time,
Becca

  1. Great card, Becca! I love clean and simple and this is the ultimate! I'm going to have to try this "gallon quart pint" rule sometime.

  2. Not sure how your proportions translate up here in Metric-land (aka Canada), but I'm going to try it, too! Love how you used the April SOTM. Gotta get that one inky!
